Intent: That the motion be passed at September 2020 Dublin City Council meeting for the local authority to be able to sell this land to a developer already involved in the area, in order for public funds to be available for the construction of a municipal sporting facility. These are in very short supply in the area and this facility already has a significant number of clubs, schools and other organisations interested in using it.

Details: As requested and agreed by our members, lobbied Dublin City Council public representatives to vote in favour of proposal to a sell a 0.36 acre size parcel of land, in order to fund the construction of a municipal sporting facility in an area lacking these facilities.

Methods: St Teresa's Gardens Regeneration Board is a multi-agency body with an oversight and monitoring role of the Regeneration Programme taking place in St Teresa's Gardens and surrounding area. It also oversees social, economic and cultural development of these areas. There are 20 members of the Regeneration Board, from local residents, relevant statutory agencies and from community and voluntary groups.The Board supports the proposal to dispose of 0.36 of an acre of land owned by DCC at St Teresa's Gardens in order to fund the development of a new Municipal Sports Facility for the South Inner City of Dublin. We understand that this plot of land represents 3.88% of the overall public lands owned by DCC in the St Teresa's Gardens area. There is currently a significant dearth and under-supply of outdoor sports facilities and pitches in the South Inner City..
