Intent: To request an urgent meeting with Waterford County Council and the relevant members of the executive team.::To highlight that recently, information has come to the attention of IFA regarding bathing water samples taken over an extended period in and along the Mahon River and estuary. It appears that issues with water quality in the Mahon area were initially attributed to agriculture. However, IFA understand that this was challenged, and the Council accepted that there was no evidence to support this classification.::To emphasise that agriculture seems to have been named as the cause of poor water quality by default. IFA would appreciate the opportunity to meet with Waterford County Council urgently to get the full facts and understand the Council's position on this matter.::To stress that the IFA and it's members are fully committed to improving water quality, and IFA members in the Mahon area and beyond have already taken significant actions on their farms.
