Intent: To invite the new EU Commissioner for Agriculture to address the IFA 70th AGM.::To invite the Minister for Agriculture and the Ministers of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to the IFA 70th AGM::To highlight the importance of the next CAP and how it will work for Irish farming. In particular, a level of funding that recognises the cost pressures farmers face in producing quality food to the highest standards. The CAP Budget has been redirected to supporting environmental ambition rather than production, which must stop. ::To highlight that the EU needs to have a separate environment fund with new money to deliver climate ambition.::To stress that Pillar II of the next Common Agricultural Policy cannot be based on cost incurred, income foregone. Intent: To highlight the issue of unharvested potato crops. While acknowledging that the Minister for Agriculture, Food, and the Marine met with growers who were affected last July, the situation has not improved for these growers who have unharvested crops from last season.::To emphasise that this issue is causing a huge financial and mental toll on those affected. Some of these growers could not plant crops in 2024 because of financial difficulties and this has had a knock-on effect into this season.::That, the cost of growing an acre of potatoes was at an all-time high last season according to the Teagasc report . IFA has furnished the detail of this with Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine officials making the case for a co

Intent: That further expansion should be considered, alongside greater TAMS (Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme) allocated funding from unused RDP ( Rural Development Programme) funding, to yield even greater dividend with regard to on-farm efficiencies; farm safety; water quality; reduced emissions etc.::TAMS has contributed considerably to the upgrading and modernisation of Irish farms, improved on-farm safety and efficiencies through the purchase of new and innovative equipment and technology for many years. This has been aided considerably most recently in TAMS 3 with increased investment ceilings, grant rates and qualifying items::The underlying context within much of the documentation provided is that the luxury of having sufficiently available funds, which saw 100% approval of eligible applications through Tranches 1-4, is waning, meaning greater utilisation of Ranking and Selection criteria will likely be required into the future.::To query, to aid knowledge and understanding,
