Intent: Provide feedback by way of consultation to the DEPR Consultation on Accelerating Infrastructure reflecting SSE views. SSE outlined solutions which we believe should be prioritised in order to streamline and speed up the delivery of energy infrastructure projects in Ireland, including implementing the Renewable Energy Directive III provisions in relation to permitting and IROPI, investing in our grid and planning reform.

Methods: Submission

Intent: Provide feedback by way of consultation response to the redesign of the EEOS scheme in the context of the implementation of the revised Energy Efficiency Directive and its increased targets. The response welcomed new relaxation of some requirements and introduction of flexibilities in the scheme. SSE called for further expansion of some supports, pointed to key barriers and called for the current targets not to be increased to ensure deliverability.

Intent: Provide feedback by way of consultation response to the Renewable Transport Fuel Policy 2025-2027 reflecting SSE views. The response called for a focus on electrification efforts for most modes of transport, targeted use of RFNBOs and biofuels in the aviation and maritime sectors and policy coherence and coordination between sectoral targets.

Intent: Provide feedback by way of consultation response on the Review of Building Regulations Technical Guidance Document L and F (Implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive). SSE’s response highlighted the significant cost impacts and impacts to current retrofit programs in Ireland which could be caused by the BER requirement of 'A3' introduced in the technical guidance documents.
