Making arrangements for Minister Chambers to attend the IPU Annual Conference

1. Emails sent to Minister Chambers TD seeking follow up meeting with the Union. 2. Meeting with Minister, his advisors/officials happened on the 24/1/24. At that meeting the IPU advocated for a Cost of Living increase for Postmasters due to inflationary pressures since 2022. This has resulted in a chain of emails between the IPU and the Department around the Increased Cost of Business Scheme (Rates Subsidy) and its inability to provide relief for all Postmasters due to eligibility criteria.

Emails sent to Department seeking a follow up meeting between Minister and the Union. This was followed by a meeting with Minister for State for Postal Policy, Jack Chambers TD and advisors where the Union advocated for a cost of living increase for Postmasters. Following the meeting, further emails were sent to the Office of the Minister providing information on the inflation drivers and clarification on why a government decision on assisting SMEs with relief on Rates won't assist Postmasters.

Meeting with Minister for Social Protection to highlight issues with payments to Postmasters relating to social welfare clients and exploring possibilities of changes to administrative rules. Meeting with Minister for Postal Policy to advocate a cost of living increase for Postmasters because of the rise in inflation driven by energy costs.
