Peat Piracy - IPCC have had a number of enquiries from members of the public concerned that peatland
usually in their ownership
is being developed for turbrary without their consent. Planning permission is only required if the turf extraction is greater than 1ha
as most extraction is below this threshold planning departments can not enforce the development. IPCC requested that this be looked into by Minister Bruton as it highlights poor management of the environment and carbon resources.

planning was granted for an N52 bypass to receive pressure on the town of Ardee (County Louth) but the funds were not released. To the dismay of the local community and IPCC their was never an Environmental Impact Assessment for the development and how it may affect the local biodiversity and wildlife amenity of Ardee Bog
which the community does not want to lose. Ardee Bog is the most easterly raised bog in the country and contains unique habitat and archeological history.

Loughderryduff Windfarm - To be developed within a Special Area of Conservation despite the fact there will be a loss of qualifying interest habitat which is against the Conservation Objectives(NPWS) and Habitats Directive. A letter was sent to the NPWS asking how did the wind farm get planning permission within the SAC and Minister Madigan asking for her to stop the development.
