In advance of the Energy Ministers Council on 16 March, EAI urge that Ireland does not support any proposal that undermines the marginal pricing framework. EAI believe Ireland should advocate instead for stability in marketdesign and a focus on structural measures to reduce costs.

Electricity Sector disagrees with the decision by the Department of Social Protection not to proceed with the extension of the credit option to additional energy providers under the Household Benefits Package (HBP). It is a missed opportunity to target energy credits at those who most need it in the future and contrary to the Programme for Government, which commits to exploring inclusive support for all households, particularly for vulnerable groups.

regarding the level of industry engagement and representation across Task Forces established as part of the Climate Action Plan. The EAI welcomes the creation of these groups, however, it is our view that industry has been under-represented on these groups and we seek to address this imbalance.

Based on the draft Bill, EAI members were strongly of the opinion that it did not accurately reflect the policy intent of the legislation. The specific concerns of EAI members related to two aspects of the draft Bill.
