Politician(s) lobbied: Kevin Boxer Moran (Minister of State), The Office of Public Works
Intent: recognition that Ardnacrusha hydro produces the equivalent power to 30x 5 MW wind power turbines, that if the water was reduced in the months of possible flood effect, Nov, Dec, JAN, Feb and March, 100 million investment in wind power would compensate for loss of power generation by hydro. the result would supply valuable grazing for farmers due to exposed callow lands though out the year.::repatriate a land base from BNM capable of developing 120 MW of wind power, franchise out this project as strategic infrastructure to the highest bidder, If such a project was invested in, wind power excess could be used to either pump water in to reservoirs to elevate flooding or pump water to cities.
