— | Road Traffic Act 1994 - and relation to cycling events on open roads. At present a large amount of cycling events (competitive and leisure) take place on open roads with the use of Volunteer Marshals sometimes with the assistance of local Garda. At present the volunteers do not have legal authority to stop or interrupt the flow of traffic at junctions to allow the safe passage of cyclists. This is a regular practice across other open road activities in Ireland. |
