AHEAD and the Union of Students in Ireland (USI) welcomed the recent commitment from Minister Heather Humphries to sign regulations to ensure that PhD stipends/scholarships awarded to students for postgraduate research will no longer be assessed as income in the Disability Allowance means test. AHEAD and USI compiled their submission based on our shared understanding of this issue in consultation with a number of knowledgeable students and graduates who have campaigned on this issue in the past.
